Please Help This Elderly Man At Ang Mo Kio

While having lunch at Ang Mo Kio a few days ago, an elderly man approached my table and began consolidating all the food from the different bowls into one. 

Well, I thought he is the cleaner here to clear up the table so I did not pay much attention to him until he sat down and began to eat.

At that moment, my heart was shattered by what I had seen and I wanted so much to help him but I did not know how to bring up the subject without hurting his pride. 

There were so many thoughts racing through my mind but before I could think of a solution (there wasn't much leftovers in the bowls anyway), he got up and left.

I could only watch in despair as he continued his way probably to look for more leftovers to fill his stomach. I certainly could not forgive myself at this point of time why do I hold back and not put my thoughts into actions?

You know, I have heard of such cases before but I do not realise that seeing it for myself could bring so much impact and pain compared to hearing it from somebody else.

My only concern now is that does he have a family and why isn't he on any form of social welfare?

If you have seen this man around Ang Mo Kio Central Food Centre, please buy him something nice to eat. I wished I did when I had the opportunity to but shamefully, I did not walk my talk.

Now, all I could do is to pray for his wellbeing.
