Brothers Rojak
As a former resident of Clementi, I have lost count the number of times that I have walked past this unassuming stall tucked away at a corner of See Lam Hern coffeeshop.
Well, who could blame me when there are lots more choices at the nearby Clementi Central Market & Food Centre?
Till the day my family moved out of the neighborhood, I have not once eaten the rojak here. In fact, I did not even know that there is a rojak stall here!
What a shame isn't it?
I only got to learn about them many years later on the internet which prompted me to return to my old neighborhood to have a try.

After trying this Brothers Rojak for myself, I have to admit that the Tan brothers make one mean rojak.
What sets them apart from the other rojak lies in their hae koh (prawn paste). There is something zesty (lemon? lime?) and tangy (tamarind/assam) about the sauce which makes it very appealing to me.
The bunga kantan (ginger flower) no doubt helped to accentuate the flavor further.
Some rojak sauce are just plain sweet but this is... 3 dimensional?
As exaggerating as it sounds, Brothers Rojak makes the nicest rojak I have had so far!
It is self-service here so the queue may be a little slow moving as the you char kway (youtiao/dough stick) and taupok are given a slight toast in the toaster upon ordering.
If you are packing away, the sauce will be packed separately so the you char kway and taupok does not turn soggy by the time you get home.
Despite being on their feet for long hours within the confines of their tiny stall, the amiable Tan brothers never fail to greet customers with their smiles.

Not a pretty sight but the proof of the pudding is in the eating!
Rojak prices start from $3 - $8 with additional cost for add-ons like stuffed taupok (taupok pau), century egg and pressed cuttlefish/codfish.
It is a little pricey but I think it's all worth it.
