When I first saw the trailer, I was thrilled. I have always been a fan of anything with a fantasy or magical theme.
My first introduction to The Wizard Of Oz as a child was a 1978 adaption entitled, "The Wiz" starring Michael Jackson as the Scarecrow and Diana Ross as Dorothy.
As I grew up, I got to know about the 1939 original starring Judy Garland with the evergreen song "Somewhere Over The Rainbow".

"Oz The Great And Powerful" is about the journey of Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a traveling circus magician from Kansas who was whisked away in a hurricane to the Land of Oz way before Dorothy and Toto's arrival.
There, he met the three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams) and befriends other unlikely characters such as Finley, the wise winged monkey, and the brave but brittle China Girl.
I was dismayed to learn that there will no appearance of Dorothy, Toto, Scarecrow, Tin Man and Lion in this instalment but still, what excites me most about this 2013 version is that the OSTs (Original Soundtracks) were all composed by Danny Elfman.
From "The Nightmare Before Christmas" (1993), "Corpse Bride" (2005), "Alice in Wonderland" (2010) to the more recently, Cirque du Soleil Show (2011), Danny Elfman never fails to mesmerize my heart with his scores.
If you have watched "Edward Scissorhands" (1990) starring Johnny Depp, the soundtrack "Ice Dance" still enthral me 23 years on.
Well, you know, his music is just so... EPIC!
