This Hainanese chicken rice stall at the basement of Golden Mile Food Centre has a very straight forward name called Hainanese Boneless Chicken Rice. It is located right next to the fried Hokkien noodle stall from my previous post.

Despite the lack of newspaper cuttings and accolades, this unassuming chicken rice stall attracts a perpetual queue everyday which is made up of both locals and tourists.

During my visit on a Saturday afternoon, I queued for about twenty minutes before I reached the front of the line.

The stall offers both roasted chicken as well as poached chicken.

I ordered a plate of poached chicken rice for one pax at $2.50. The portion is well-worth the price but may not be too filling if you are very hungry. Hence, you might want to consider the $3.50 portion instead.

My order came with a plate of rice, a portion of deboned chicken breast meat served on a separate plate and a bowl of soup. Do help yourself to the garlic chili and ginger puree placed in front of the stall.

The chicken meat were dressed in a concoction of light soy and sesame oil which isn't too salty. Although the chicken part I got was breast meat, it is sufficiently moist and tender.

As for the rice, it has a firm bite yet not too overly oily.

The soup, on the other hand, is flavorful although I suspect it is laden with msg.

Their garlic chili is quite potent and packs a punch while the garlic puree is rather salty but still make a nice dip nonetheless.

The food here is satisfactory and the price easy on the pocket. Half a bird costs only $9!

I wished they could be more generous with the cucumber slices though as I was given only three thin slices and perhaps a few slices of tomato as well which I think were only given to those who ordered at least half a bird.
